My friend Jesse has just returned from a schoolies trip to Byron Bay and I am eager to hear all his hilariously de classay stories, and also need to see him before he flies off for Israel the next day! Le Paris Go Cafe is an ideal place for a catch up – chilled, roomy, and always buzzing ( so you don’t have to worry about lowering your voice if you too have some stories to share ;) ). We have both just eaten so decide on some fresh squeezed juices. Jesse also orders a croissant, tainting this perfect picture of health. Jesse is of partly French background, like me, though unlike me he can speak the language which gives him a bit of an edge – I Will learn eventually! Like a true frenchmen, Jess loves his pastries, and is on a mission to find the best croissant in Sydney.

Large Apple Mint Juice, $7.50

Large Ginger, Lemon, Mint, Carrot, Celert, Beetroot, Cranberry Juice, $7.50

The waitress reccommends that we order large size juices but I do regret this because they are Huge. I know that consuming all of this vegetable monster would be nutritionally rather beneficial but truth be told, I get bored of drinking so much of the same thing and do leave a fair amount behind. The other reason a fair amount was left behind was because, though pretty, it just didn’t taste that great. Normally when I do a vege juice I pack in pretty much all available ‘healthy’, ‘pure’ ingredients and hope it’ll taste ok, my mentality being that this way I’ll feel super saintly and balanced the rest of the day like a little buddha child. Wrong – this one definitely proved that sometimes, the simpler the better. Jesse’s much less complicated green apple and mint juice was gorgeous and refreshing.

Croissant, ordered plain but delivered with a side of jam

Jesse is very disturbed by the fact that his croissant has been toasted. I love toasted croissant sandwiches, but to Jesse, served plain this is sacrilege, using the analogy ‘it’s like putting sequins on a Picasso’ to express his angst – the Parisians would not approve, Le Paris! I reassure him that there are many more croissants to be tried in Sydney – this mission has only just begun.

We leave just in time for me to re-do my parking ticket (the bane of Bondi).

The hustle and bustle of Le Paris-Go is a perfect place to story swap.
